Drama unfolded before the very eyes of media personalities and sympathisers of the People’s National Convention (PNC) at a press conference at the party’s National headquarters in Abavana, Accra on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
The media engagement was meant to throw more light on the decision to suspend General Secretary of the party, Janet Asana Nabila.
Madam Nabila was on August 28, 2021, indefinitely suspended by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) over allegations of gross misconduct, insubordination, and incompetence.
But those claims have been challenged by Madam Nabila who has gone a step further to denounce the suspension saying it is a grand orchestration by the National Chairman, Moses Dani Baah, and Leader, David Apasera to cover up some shady dealings in the party.
Today’s press conference which had the leader of the party, David Apasera, and the Party Chairman in attendance, was expected to lay bare the facts surrounding the decision to suspend the General Secretary.
But things turned ugly at the PNC headquarters, when the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Bala Maikankan stormed the event being addressed by the party’s Communications Director, Awudu Ishaque.
“Janet is also coming to deliver everything you need, it’s simple,” Mr Maikankan said as he tried every means possible to defend the PNC’s suspended General Secretary.
It took the timely intervention of the Police to prevent the confrontation from degenerating into fisticuffs and had to be subsequently escorted out of the conference hall for the engagement to continue.
