Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has honored his pledge of support to Ghana’s veteran actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio popularly known as TT.
TT of the popular old TV series, Taxi Driver fame, recently appealed to the public to come his aid especially his rent since he is in a very bad state in terms of finances.
After this public appeal, many people have pledged to support the veteran actor.
The first person to honor his promise is the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, with a total donation of GHC 50,000.
ABC News has gathered that the Vice President, although bereaved after his mother, Hajia Mariama passed on this morning, has reached out to TT and paid a total amount of GHC 30,000 to renew his rent for the next 5 years.
In addition, the vice president donated another amount of GHC 20,000 to help with the daily upkeep of the veteran actor who is facing health challenges.
In a Facebook post of Lawyer Krobea Kwabena Asante sighted by ABC News, the lawyer wrote that , “despite mourning his mum who died in the early hours of today. Dr Bawumia this morning fulfilled a promise he made yesterday to TT of Taxi Driver fame that he will foot TT’s rent bills. Dr Bawumia has paid 6 months renewable for the next 5 years (30k) for TT and has also given TT 20k for upkeep. In all, he gave TT 50k this morning.”
Others who have pledged to support the veteran actor include Ayisha Modi, whose offer was to house Psalm for as long as he lived. As of this time, we do not know if she has been able to redeem her pledge.
