Chairman of the Volta Regional Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dan Abodakpi has distanced himself from comments that NDC executives are showing fake love to Voltarians.

The said statement, attributed to him, has gone viral on social media, but he said “it is fake” and must be disregarded because he never said that.

Portions of the purported statement read “I have been following the news about the tribal politics being generated by those who should have known better, trying to show fake love for we VOLTARIANS, this is an insult to the EWE communities.

“I want to advise my fellow VOLTARIANS that they should check and ask themselves have any military officer refused them from registering for their voter’s ID card? 2020 is not about showing fake love to the EWES but it’s about records, so those crying for the EWES now, how many of the EWES are on the top leadership of their parties? NO MORE FAKE LOVE”

Issuing a disclaimer, Dan Abodakpi said he believes the statement came from political opportunists who want to tarnish his image and ruin his relationship with party members.

“The attention of this office has been drawn to a fake news item on “tribal politics” and some alleged people trying to show fake love for we #VOLTARIANS circulating on various social media platforms purported to have come from Hon. Dan Abodakpi.

“Hon. Dan Abodakpi wishes to distance himself from the said malicious write-up emanating from political opportunists and urges all well-meaning persons to disregard that piece with the utmost contempt it deserves,” the statement read.
