Some Ghanaian players in Ethiopia are calling on government to help them return home after the football season in the African country was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a viral video seen by ABC News, some Ghanaian players at the Ghanaian Embassy in Ethiopia, led by former Black Stars player, Lee Addy and ex-Kotoko goalkeeper, Muntari Tagoe, were seen pleading with government to help them return home.

The players revealed their rent and work permits will expire on June 30, a situation which will make it difficult for them to survive particularly since they’ve spent all their savings since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ethiopian top-flight league has been cancelled following the outbreak of the coronavirus.
