ABC News has gathered that campaign manager of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2020 polls, Peter Mac Manu has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Our information also suggest that a Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah has also contracted the viral disease.

The two top officials are currently on admission at the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra given the state of their conditions.

This comes moments after news about the demise of NPP’s former General Secretary and CEO of the Forestry Commission, Sir John broke.

These are however not the first government or NPP party officials to contract the disease.

It will be recalled that few weeks back the Mayor of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr K.k Sam passed on shortly after contracting the virus.

The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby among a host of others have all tested positive for the dreaded global disease.

Ghana’s COVID-19 case count now stands at 18,134; 13,550 recoveries with 177 persons succumbing to the disease.
