At least seven Senior High Schools in the Western Region, including Archbishop Porter Girls have reportedly recorded cases of COVID-19, the Regional Director of Health has disclosed.
According to Dr. Jacob Mahama, the Nsei SHS in Axim alone has recorded eight cases while the rest have so far recorded a case each.
“Western Region has recorded some COVID-19 cases. About five schools, each has one case but Nsei SHS in Axim has eight cases. Archbishop Porter Girls too we had one case but there are other cases which results haven’t come yet,” he said.
Corroborating the report by the Regional Health Director, the Public Relations Officer of the Western Regional Education Service, Kate Biney mentioned that indeed some schools have recorded the disease adding she could only confirm two of such schools.
“I know that Ahantaman Girls has recorded a suspected case and Archbishop Porter Girls also has one suspected case who showed the signs and have been isolated. Nsei, Diabene and Adiembra I will have to check,” she said in an interview with Citi News.
