A 93-year-old man has been reported dead a day after he was confirmed to have contracted Coronavirus.

The man who was said to be hypertensive and was living with prostate cancer according to the Ghana Health Service was admitted to an unnamed hospital in Accra after he complained of having some difficulty breathing as well as suffering from cough.

Based on the early symptoms, he was suspected to have contracted Coronavirus. Samples were taken and a COVID-19 test was carried out. The result, which was obtained on May 29 was positive.

The patient whose name was not given died on Saturday, May 30. He is the 36th person to have died of the virus since it broke out in the Country early March 2020.

A notice by the Ghana Health Service confirming the incident said ”A 93-year-old male, a known hypertensive and also with Prostate Cancer was admitted in a hospital in Accra with a complaint of difficulty in breathing and cough. COVID -19 was suspected and patient isolated at the emergency room. COVID -19 samples were taken on 26h May/2020 and results obtained on 29th May, 2020 and confirmed as positive and died on 30th May, 2020.”
