It was a landslide victory for Ghana’s rising comic actor, Clement Ashiteye, widely known as Clemento Suarez as social media users crowned him as their favourite comedian ahead of the likes of Lawyer Nti, DKB and OB Amponsah.

This was revealed in Twitter polls organized by MTN Ghana which sought to ascertain from Ghanaian Twitter users their favourite comedian as far as these four fine Ghanaian comic actors are concerned.

At the close of polls yesterday after 24,042 Ghanaians cast their votes, Clemento Suarez emerged the winner garnering 83 percent of the total votes. Stand up comedian, DKB followed accumulating 8 percent of the votes. Lawyer Nti had 6 percent and OB Amponsah garnered 4 percent of the total votes cast.

OB Amponsah, DKB better comedians than me – Clemento Suarez

This general affection for Clemento Suarez comes as no surprise since the comic actor in recent weeks has been phenomenal and sensational in his craft. His comedy skits and ingenuity, especially his intriguing “coronavirus poem” has been the talk of town in the past several weeks.

What is noteworthy is that despite the general affection for the rising comic actor, he does not regard himself among the best comedians in the country. According to Clemento Suarez, his colleagues, DKB, OB Amponsah and the likes are better comedians than himself.

Despite Clemento Suarez’s beliefs though, Ghanaians regard him as their favourite as far as GH Comedy is concerned.

“I assess myself as well, I know there are better comedians than myself. Lilwin, Kwaku Manu, even Yaw Dabo and then Foster Romanus and even the standup comedy, DKB, Lekzy, they are great comics and I know there is more to be done and so I don’t let this new sensation get to me,” these were the words of Clemento Suarez when he spoke in an interview with TV3’s Giovanni Caleb last month.
