The Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe, Abronye, has been invited by the Special Investigations Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department over some alleged comments made to slander the former President, John Dramani Mahama.
The invitation comes barely two weeks after the NDC flagbearer through his lawyers, reported Abronye to the CID for alleging on a Television programme that Mr Mahama had hired hitmen to kill some members of the governing party and accusations that he [John Mahama] killed ex-president John Evans Atta Mills.
Following this report, Abronye in a four-page response to the Police Service, said he will ever ‘make a statement, allegation or utterance(s) without the necessary evidence’.
The Police has therefore extended this invitation which is dated Thursday, 21st May to Abronye to assist in investigations into the allegations.
“The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the CID Headquarters has commenced investigations into an alleged case of Publication of false news reported by His Excellency Former President John Dramani Mahama against you.
“You are required to report to Director/SIU on Thursday 21st May 2020 at 10:00 am to assist investigations, please,” excerpts of the CID invitation letter stated.
