Carabao Cup: Kelleher saves two penalties as Liverpool win shootout to knock out Leicester

Must Read

Caoimhin Kelleher saved two penalties as Liverpool won a shootout against Leicester City to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Takumi Minamino’s 95th-minute equaliser completed Liverpool’s comeback from 3-1 down, and even though the Japan international missed his spot-kick, Kelleher saved from Luke Thomas and Ryan Bertrand before Diogo Jota put away the winning penalty.

Jamie Vardy’s double and James Maddison’s strike had given the Foxes a comfortable advantage over a second-string Liverpool, who only had Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal to show from the first half.

But the introduction of Jota from the bench spurred on the Reds, with the Portuguese’s goal narrowing the deficit before Minamino sparked late drama.
