In a quest to transform the lives of millions of Africans through the provision of affordable and sustainable energy and technology, a Californian-based Ghanaian Professor has established an organisation to drive the agenda.
The Africa Renewable Energy & Technology Organization (ARETO), established by Dr Julian Mills-Beale aims at ensuring access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable, energy and technology for Africa’s development in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The initiative, which, according to Dr Julian Mills-Beale, was conceived two years ago, borne fruit when the organisation hosted the 1st African Renewable Energy and Smart Tech conference (AFRESMART 2019).
A statement released by Dr Julian Mills-Beale, who is also a Professor of Civil Engineering and Construction Management said the conference will be one of the flagship projects of the organisation.
ARETO’s main objective, he said, will be to serve as the “Master Bridgers” of technological transfer to accelerate Africa’s development.
“We will work with African governments, international organizations like the UN, WHO, civil society organizations, technologists, innovators, scientists and other stakeholders, on how to help Africa develop with sustainable cutting edge technology in transportation, aviation, agriculture, medical technology, water, sanitation and waste management, smart tech, among others,” he stated.
Celebrating the milestone, a former Senior Communications Advisor to former President John Mahama, Ben Dotsei Malor, in a Facebook post, lauded Dr Mills-Beale for the ambition, describing its an “awesome initiative.”
“AWESOME INITIATIVE TO HELP MILLIONS: This California-based Ghanaian brother just want to, “ensure access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable, plus modern energy and technology” that can transform the lives of millions of people across Africa.
“Dr Julian Mills-Beale, may your seed generate more seeds. May this plant flourish and produce a great harvest. May millions be lifted out of poverty, hunger, and underdevelopment because of your initiative and social enterprise. GOD BLESS YOU,” he wrote.
