Nigerian afrobeat star, Burna Boy has won Best Global Album award at the just-ended 63rd Grammys, hosted by US-based South African comedian, Trevor Noah.

He won with his ‘Twice as Tall’ album.

In his acceptance speech, Burna Boy said: “Africa is in the house…this is a big win for my generation of Africans all over the world. This should be a lesson to everyone that no matter where you are and no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it, no matter where you are from. You are a king. Look at me now. Grammy Award-winning Burna Boy.”

This is Burna Boy’s second Grammy nomination. Last year, his album ‘African Giant’ was nominated in the same category that was previously known as ‘World Album’.

Burna Boy was in the same category with top musicians from Antibalas, Bebel Gilberto, Anoushka Shankar and Tinariwen.

Other big winners for the day were Beyonce, Megan Thee Stallion, Tiffany Haddish, John Legend, Kanye West, Tailor Swift, Nas, Dua Lipa, Fiona Apple and others.
