Former Energy Minister in President Akufo-Addo first term, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko has opened up on his current relationship with President Akufo-Addo 4 years after his dismissal.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, Mr. Boakye-Agyarko stated that he currently does not have any personal relationship with the man he trusted so much years ago.
He however stressed that although he does not hate the President, he does not talk to him regularly adding that the last time he spoke to him was over a year ago.
To him, he has moved on from the issues relating to his dismissal.
He therefore indicated that he is now focused his presidential ambition to lead the NPP as flagbearer in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
“I do not have a relationship with him [President Akufo-Addo] now. No, I don’t. People get married for thirty years and they get divorced, don’t they? …Not because of hatred,” Mr. Boakye Agyarko said.
He therefore continued that “me, I will never let anybody bring me so low as to hate him. I don’t hate anybody, but there comes a time when circumstances make it that you go your way, you have to move on.”
Mr. Agyarko was sacked by the President Akufo-Addo in August 2018 over a power purchase agreement between the Government of Ghana and the Africa Middle East Resources Investment widely known as AMERI.
Mr. Agyarko was dismissed following revelations that the renegotiated AMERI deal was fraught with corruption.
