Self-acclaimed Dancehall king, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly called Shatta Wale is in the trends again after a video of him hugging American singer and songwriter, Beyoncé surfaced on the internet.

The hug was part of a promo trailer for Beyoncé’s upcoming Black is King film which visualizes her 2019 Lion King album.

The film, which is set to appear in the cinemas on Friday, July 31, featured Shatta Wale, Tiwa Savage, Mr. Eazi and Burna Boy among other African artists who collaborated with Boyonce in some songs on the album.

In a promo interview, ahead of the premiering, Beyoncé said she named the film ‘Black is King’ because “Black is rigour and rich in history, in purpose and in lineage.”

Minutes after the video was shared, fans of Shatta Wale took to Twitter to congratulate him and celebrate him as the ‘king’.

TV show host and actress, Efia Odo tweeted, “Beyoncé hugging Shatta Wale? OMG!!!!! How often does she even hug her fellow American musicians who are close? @shattawalegh is King. Charles I’m coming straight to your house to watch the premier with you this dawn. #ShattaIsKing #ShattaRules”
