Bayern Munich boosted their chances of lifting the Bundesliga for yet another season on Tuesday after defeating rivals Dortmund in the Der Klassiker.

The league leaders have extended the gap between them and Dortmund to 7 points thanks to a Kimmich goal in the first half.

The match was considered the season decider as a win for Dortmund would have reduced the points gap to 1 thus making the title open for grabs.

Bayern are now cruizing to their 8th successive league title as Dortmund coach Lucien Favre admitted, “Seven points in six games, it will be very, very difficult” but the coach of the Bayern team doesn’t want to get ahead of himself, insisting “I don’t live in the future, the here and now is important”.

“We wanted to win and take a big step forward – we did that. We were focused, decisive and courageous at times. I’m satisfied with my team,” he added.

Bayern has now remained unbeaten in their last 18 games since the last defeat in December 2019 to Borussia Monchengladbach and need to win 4 of their last 6 games to secure their 30th Bundesliga.
