Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has dissociated himself from posters making rounds on social media purporting that he is gearing up to run for the NPP presidential candidate slot for 2024.

The rumor started with allegations that there is a silent in-fighting between him and Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanten as to who will be the party’s flagbearer in 2024, when the sitting president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is done with his second and final term.

Party bigwigs have condemned the alleged competition as unhealthy for the party and for the dignity and focus of the sitting president.

While that was yet being dealt with, another poster of Dr. Bawumia has emerged, depicting him as the one who will lead the NPP to break the 8-year political power swing cycle by leading the NPP to victory in 2024.

This poster comes after Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah recently stated that the NPP will break that 8-year power swing cycle in 2024.

But a statement from the office of the Vice President, signed by his Spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako, said that the Veep has taken note of the develop and would want to make it clear that he has not given his consent to any such activities.

It said the Vice President is focusing on assisting the President to execute his national development agenda and that is what everybody should be focused on.
