General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, aka General Mosquito has promised to takeover the family duties of the late former NPP General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie.
This promise comes a one day after the former NPP Scribe passed on at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital ICU after testing positive for COVID-19.
“I want his family to know that if he is gone I am here to take over so anything they need, they can call on me and I will be there for them,” an emotional General Mosquito promised in an interview on an Accra radio station, monitored by ABC News.
General Mosquito described Sir John as his bosom brother whom he had known for 20 years, adding that they did a lot of things together in their private lives, in spite of their sharp political differences.
According to Asiedu Nketia, he and Sir John took a decision never to allow their political differences to affect their personal relationship and it never did.
“When we both became General Secretaries of the two leading political parties, we both decided to maintain our relationship and not allow anything to come between us. So, he was a brother to me,” a very sad General Mosquito said.
Asiedu Nketia revealed a lot of memories the two shared including how he supported Sir John during his 2012 Supreme Court contempt case.
General Mosquito, who struggled to hide his emotions about the death of his “brother and friend” therefore extended his sympathies to the family, wife and children of the astute lawyer and former CEO of Ghana Forestry Commission.
He then promised that since his brother is no more, he is offering to take up the role of Sir John in his family, saying that the family should not hesitate to reach out any time and he will always be at their service.
