Asante Kotoko defeated Aduana Stars 2-0 in the Ghana Premier League top-of-the-clash at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Saturday.

George Mfegue and Richmond Lamptey scored a goal apiece to seal all the maximum points for the Porcupine Warriors in their match week 11 encounter.

Kotoko, who went into the game on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat to King Faisal in the MTN FA Cup on Thursday took a deserved lead in the 19th minute through George Mfegue who headed in from a cross from Imoro Ibrahim.

Salifu Mudasiru’s long range effort came off the crossbar to deny the Reds a second goal in the 34th minute.

After the recess, Bright Adjei missed a glorious opportunity to get the equalizer for Aduana Stars in the 62nd minute as well as second-half substitute Yahaya Mohammed who nearly scored the equalizer for the home side in the 67th minute but his header went off target.

Danlad Ibrahim, who started ahead of Razak Abalora pulled a brilliant save in the 86th minute to deny Aduana the leveller following delicious ball from Abass Mohammed.

Richmond Lamptey tapped home from close range in the 89th minute to secure a 2-0 win.

Aduana Stars have now lost twice at home in the on-going season after they suffered a 3-1 loss to King Faisal on match week two. The result takes Asante Kotoko to the top of the table with 23 points – three points above King Faisal who host Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday.
