Slaves per the definition by the Oxford Dictionary Online, are people who work excessively hard. This was the case in the past. A bitter experience one wouldn’t want to wise on another. But unfortunately, we are modern-day slaves to so many things. Money, technology, our jobs, marriages, time, etc.
What are you a slave of? Are you a slave to or of time? Are you a SLAVE? In fact, If you don’t like whatever you wake up to do or to, then sorry, you are a slave to it. You have today to yourself. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Even if it is, it will not and cannot replace today no matter how much you try. It will be tomorrow and not today.
So, quit saying in future I will do this or that and start saying until I do all that or get all that in future, I am going to live my life today loving what I do. You sold some days of your life to whatever you do or whoever you work for. Yes, I repeat; the 7:30 am to say 4:30 pm or more every Monday to Friday or more, is no more yours.
How much did you sell it for? How much? How much have you valued yourself or sold yourself to the work or employer? Are you happy with what you do? Do you have your freedom? Whatever you are paid, is it enough to take you by?
It can end this discussion without talking about slavery in marriages. Oh no! I am not talking about the gender issues and who does what neither am I talking about early marriages and forced marriages, etc. These are topics of interest for a later day.
I am talking about our marriages where two people have consented to, live in but are definitely not happy in. Marriages where if they knew their current predicament then, they wouldn’t have said the “I do” word. What is it that is keeping you in an unhappy marriage? So many cheerful and wonderful smiles becoming depressed, angrier day by day, etc. With some ending in tragedy. Yes, slavery usually ends badly. Advice, it is better to remain single than enter into something that will make you a slave for the rest of your lives. I live this topic for another day.
I, unfortunately, will have to pause here, so I can go and take my leftover TZ from yesterday as my breakfast to face my day ahead. Until then, I leave you with this:
It is toxic people who create toxic environments and not the other way around. No matter the state you find yourself, if you cannot change it now, please find something in it that is fun and motivate yourself. If you cannot find one, create something. Create it and stop the usual complain.
Remember this, God loves you!
