Joyce Bawa Mogtari, spokesperson of the Former President John Dramani Mahama is demanding an apology from President Akufo-Addo for describing Mr Mahama as a ‘poor desperate loser.’
Mrs Mogtari described the comments by President Akufo-Addo as ‘unfortunate’ and ‘a disappointment’.
President Akufo-Addo while responding to some comments made by John Mahama on the compilation of the new voters’ register said Ghanaians “will not permit any poor, desperate loser to plunge this country into chaos. Ghana is bigger than the ambitions of any of us”.
But reacting to the comments, Joyce Bawa Mogtari says the President should render an unqualified apology to John Mahama for trying to ‘smear’ his name.
“We would be expecting that he apologizes and retracts. I do believe that everyone watched what happened at the Tescon conference, it is most unfortunate if indeed the warning was for the good people of Ghana. What happened yesterday was way below the performance of a President and we are calling on President Akufo-Addo to render an unqualified apology for trying to smear Mr Mahama…The whole point made was an attempt to cast some sort of doubt to reflect in a certain negative way on not just President Mahama but his reputation as a peaceful, humble and a good citizen of Ghana
“I would want to put it very succinctly that first and foremost, President Mahama is a peace-loving Ghanaian, everybody in Ghana knows about President Mahama’s approach, he is someone who has committed his whole life to our democracy, she indicated.
