Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu has lauded President Akufo-Addo’s foreign policy since he assumed the reins of power.

According to him, this has propelled and redeemed the country’s battered image on the international front.

His comments follow the passing of the budget performance report in respect of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in parliament on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

The Tamale South MP who was contributing to the report by the Foreign Affairs Committee noted that “the pursuit of our foreign policy by the President has been worthwhile and has made significant contributions to our image abroad.”

According to the report, the country’s economic diplomacy agenda which focuses on the national objective of diversifying and increasing the export base by actively seeking markets for Ghanaian products abroad and taking advantage of multilateral trade agreements is worth commending.

The Committee also praised the establishment of a Fund to support distressed Ghanaians abroad and also lauded plans by the Ministry to improve its service delivery of passports by reducing the turn around time for processing a passport from one month to 12 days.

It also added that it has introduced a 48-page passport booklet to satisfy the needs of frequent travelers.
