President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered the shutdown of the office of Lesbians Gays Bisexuals Transgender Queer Intersex (LGBTQI) group at Tesano in Accra.

Followed the orders of the president, a combined team of heavily armed policemen and plain cloth National Security officials reportedly stormed the LGBTQ office and ordered all operations and activities ceased immediately.

The occupants for the building were also asked to vacate the building with immediate effect.

The closure was confirmed by Moses Foh Amoaning, the Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values.

The coalition is made up of the Christian Council and the Catholic Bishops Conference, the Muslim community as well as the traditional rulers, making it a tripartite group fighting the LGBTQI agenda in Ghana.

Mr. Foh-Amoaning had earlier called on the government to close down the newly opened LGBTQI office in Tesano, and also urged African leaders to take a stand against the western imperialist agenda to impose their culture on Africa.

He questioned why the west would also not legalize polygamy in the name of human rights, since it is a common cultural practice in Africa, but they want to impose their culture on Africa in the name of human rights.

Giving the background of the LGBTQI movement, Lawyer Foh-Amoaning said that its formation started in New York City and extended to California and has since spread throughout the world, and now want to invade Africa.

This latest move by the president will not be pleasing to the European Union, which played a key role in the opening of the LGBTQI office in Accra, and even congratulated Ghana for allowing the group to function.

The EU in Ghana said it fully supports gay rights and called on Ghanaians to respect all human rights. The Australian Ambassador to Ghana also pledged financial support to gay rights groups in Ghana.

Meanwhile, at least four government officials have openly declared that to the extent that Ghanaian laws were against unnatural carnal knowledge, including the kind that LGBTQI promotes, the government will not compromise.

The president’s orders, as carried out by the security apparatus gives expression to that stance.
