An Accra Circuit Court has convicted socialite and actress Akuapem Poloo in trial over a nude photo of herself and her seven-year-old son she posted on social media.

This comes after the Ghanaian actress changed her initial “not guilty” plea to “guilty” of all the three charges levelled against her in the case which the court started hearing last year.

The sentencing of the actress who appeared before the court in a black dress and black nose mask with her hands folded whilst she sobs, has been postponed by the presiding judge, Ms Christiana Cann.

The court will now sentence Akuapem Poloo on her own plea but as a requirement by law, the court has ordered a pregnancy test to ensure she does not go to jail with a pregnancy.

The actress was therefore remanded into police custody to appear on Friday, April 16, 2021) with the results of the pregnancy for sentencing.

Akuapem Poloo is likely to be handed a jail time, community service or fine based on the presiding Judge’s discretion.

She had initially claimed the nude photo which was the subject matter of the court hearing, was to teach her son to care for destitute people. But she backtracked on that excuse and started apologizing in public even before court hearing started.

Akuapem Poloo is not new to controversy in the media, whether it is posting nude picture, creating fake impressions or creating some drama to bring attention to herself.
