The performance of the Senior National Team, Black Stars has not been up to expectation at the 2021 African Cup of Nations Tournament in Cameroon as the qualification of the team from the group stage hangs in a balance.
The Black Stars was defeated by the Atlas Lions of Morocco in their opening game by a lone goal. After this defeat, the argument which was rife on social media was that the team from its records are slow starters in every tournament hence Ghanaians should exercise patience because the performance will pick up in the second group game.
With this argument, hopes of many supporters of the team were over the roof prior to the second game against Gabon.
However, a last minute equalizer from the Gabonese which cancelled a first half goal of the Captain of the Black Stars, Dede Ayew was all it took to deflate the hopes of many Ghanaians.
With this 1:1 draw against Gabon, the Black Stars has amassed only 1 point from a possible 6 points.
Many Ghanaians have resorted to a series of calculations in order to ascertain the chances of the team to qualify from the group stage as Ghana prepares to play its last game in the group stage.
One of such persons is the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Alex Mould, has hilariously outlined the possible means by which the Black Stars can qualify for the next stage of the competition.
According to Alex Mould, basically if the Black Stars again fail to win against Comoros, their qualification will only be possible if “Morocco and Gabon players get angry and beat up the referee. CAF and FIFA will immediately expel them from the tournament. That means Comoros will now top the group and Ghana will be second.”
