Popular Ghanaian Actor, Prince David Osei has endorsed the Akufo-Addo administration for a second term, saying Ghanaians will enjoy more under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) than under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to the Actor, a comparison between the previous NDC administration and the ruling NPP shows Ghana is on course for ‘greater stuff ahead’ under the current administration.
“…looking at some of the structures that have been put in place under this administration, I believe that going forward, Ghanaians are coming to enjoy – it’s not been all that rosy but I believe that going forward Ghana is going to enjoy under this administration,” he said to blogger Zionfelix.
Prince David Osei said he believes whatever the Akufo-Addo administration has started needs to be extended beyond four years so he would recommend that they are given a second term to continue their good work.
His comment comes at a time when his contemporary, John Dumelo is running for Parliament on the ticket of NDC at Ayawaso West Wuogon, and his senior colleague Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokono) has expressed disappointment in the NPP government.
According to him, the practice of voting out a government after their first four years stifles development and draws the country back so it should be discouraged.
“Let’s say you kick NPP out after the 4 years – Mahama will come back into power – he’s probably going to take two years to reshuffle and try and understand what went wrong – every time we’re going to go back – we need to go forward,” he argued.
He thinks that in eight years, NPP would have done a lot a can be kicked out if Ghanaians so wish, but four years is just too short so the NPP should be given another four-year-term.
To the actor, Ghana will be better off having a ‘workbook’, which gives every party at least 10 years in power with a specific developmental agenda in mind which will be compulsory for the next government to continue.
