Abandoned hospital projects: We’ll pile pressure on gov’t to complete them – Akandoh

The Minority in Parliament says it will continue to pile pressure on government to fix all abandoned hospital projects in the country.

According to Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the NDC MPs will not relent in their efforts to get the said projects initiated under the Mahama administration completed.

This follows an unannounced tour of some of the abandoned projects to assess the work done on them since construction works stalled in 2017 following the exit of the NDC government.

Addressing the media following the nationwide tour which took the NDC MPs to Kumawu, Abetifi, Somanya, Fomena and the Afari Military hospital project, Mr Akandoh described as appalling the pace of construction of the projects.

“If the government said it could build 111 hospitals in 18 months, and they cannot finish a project which is about 65% complete in five months…..are we joking in this country. And when you are criticizing them, people call you names because you don’t belong to their party. Any reasonable government which thinks about the citizenry will prioritize the abandoned projects over new ones.”
