A 91-year-old man has been cured of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) which has killed over 600 persons in China.

The man, only identified as wang, was discharged on Friday, February 7, after staying in the Yichang Third People’s hospital, central China’s Hubei for almost two weeks.

According to the China Global Television Network (CGTN), he is the oldest to be infected and cured of the virus in the country.

The death toll for the deadly flu-like coronavirus outbreak in mainland China has risen to 636 and affected about 31,161 persons in China.

The virus has killed two people outside mainland China, one in Hong Kong and another in the Philippines, and at least 25 countries have confirmed cases.

Speaking to Chinese official state-run press agency, Xinhua News Agency, 91-year-old Wang said: “I am very happy to be cured. I want to thank all the medical staff for their treatment and organizations at all levels for their concern and care.”
