An Akropong Circuit Court has sentenced four Kingmakers arrested for violating the presidential directive on the ban on the social gathering.

The four are to pay a fine of twelve thousand one hundred and forty-four Ghana Cedis (GH₵12,144.00) each or in default, serve a four (4) year jail term.

On May 1, 2020, police arrested four persons for violating the law on imposition of restrictions at Akropong in the Eastern Region, when they organised a public chieftaincy event.

The Kingmakers of Akuapem initiated traditional processes to install their new Okuapehene amidst a thick crowd in total disregard for the social distancing protocol.

The four, Nana Odi Asempa aged 76; Mr. Bernard Osei Opoku aged 55; Odehye Kofi Asiedu aged 57 and Nana Sememshyia Ohene Asah Krofa aged 57 were convicted on their own plea by the Circuit Court in Akropong presided over by Her Lordship Arit Nsemoh.
