A 27-year-old married woman and her lover who plotted to kill her husband at Pamen near Kwabeng in the Eastern region, have been remanded into custody by the Asokwa District Court.
The woman, Mavis Brepor, and her 50-year-old lover, Patrick Asare, hired an assassin to kill her husband but in the process of giving the green light for the heinous crime to be carried out, they mistakenly dialled the number of the Manhyia Police Divisional Commander, ACP Kwaku Buah who played along to get them arrested.
Narrating how it all happened, ACP Kwaku Buah said “somebody who wanted a killer to kill someone in a certain village called Pamen was given a certain contact number to call. He either couldn’t get the number right or didn’t write it down well so when he made the first call, it hit my phone. I passed it on to my crime officer and undercover investigators. We were to do this job for him on Saturday, May 2, 2020. So when he came to Kumasi, we arrested him.”
The suspect, in his caution statement, admitted to the crime saying he conspired with Gator’s wife to kill him so that they could go on freely with their relationship.
The suspect led the Police to Pamen where Mavis was also arrested.
The two who appeared before the Asokwa court today were remanded after the prosecutor, Chief Superintendent Kofi Blagodzi, prayed for more time to conduct further investigations into the crime.
The court presided over by His Worship Korkor Achaw Owusu, subsequently remanded them to reappear before the court on May 21, 2020.
Their plea was not taken.
