Multitalented Disc Jockey (DJ), Erica Armah Bra-Bulu Tandoh, popularly known as DJ Switch, has won the overall Best DJ and Best Female DJ of the Year awards at the 2019 Ghana DJ Awards, ABC News can report.
The 11-year-old, who competed with experienced DJs like DJ Vyrusky, DJ Black, DJ Sly, DJ Mic-Smith and DJ Aroma, beat them to annex the much-desired award.
DJ Switch won the Discovery of the Year Award at the 2018 Ghana DJ Awards after winning TV3’s Talented Kids in the same year.
The young talented DJ has since then performed at high profile events both in Ghana and Internationally, including the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Ghana DJ Awards, Ghana Meets Naija, the 2019 Internation Youth Employment Summit (IYES) Conference, among others.
In February this year, Young Erica performed at the African Leaders’ Summit at the AU headquarters held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Last year, she was invited by the Bill Gates Foundation for an event in New York.
That event had French President Emmanuel Macron, model Naomi Campbell and other influential personalities in attendance.
She recently founded The DJ Switch Foundation, advocating for quality education, adequate health care, gender equality, and sustainable development.
Speaking after winning this year’s award, the visibly delighted young DJ said, “We made it! Thank you all for voting, we got the best female DJ of the year and also the best DJ of the year”
