A campaign team member of the embattled Tema West MP, Carlos Ahenkorah has passed on after allegedly contracting Covid-19.
Sources say the deceased had acute respiratory challenges and was rushed to the LEKMA Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Pathologists are however yet to confirm the cause of death.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports also have it that between one to three other members of the former Deputy Trade Minister’s campaign team have also contracted the disease.
Carlos Ahenkorah was captured mingling, touching, hugging and dancing with members of his constituency after his victory in the recent parliamentary primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party.
He was also seen touring some registration centers even after he was confirmed positive, for COVID-19.
The Tema West MP told an Accra radio station he usually spent only five minutes at each registration center and left because of his COVID-19 status, but that excuse was met with a heavy dose of public criticism even from within his own party.
Mr. Carlos Ahenkorah subsequently tendered in his on resignation on Friday, July 3 following a backlash on social media over his decision to tour these registration centers despite being COVID-19 positive.
His resignation is seen by some as an honourable act, while it appears inadequate for scores more, with some calling for his prosecution.
